MOVEMENT:

This constitutes a typical characteristic of the breed. At the walk, the gait of feline type of lion steps, is slow and resembles that of a bear. The trot is distinguished by a strong thrust of the hindquarters and a good extension of the forequarters. The dog rarely gallops; usual gaits: walk and trot - Pacing is tolerated.

Finally, we came to the point, to see why all the   body structure, proportions and angles are so important  for the typical and yet unique moving style of the mastino. Any faults of structure result in energy loss, (and became ``new recognised type`` of Neo with tongue hanging  near the ground), untypical movement  and big problems with character. So, let us see, what the standard is saying...

This constitutes a typical characteristic of the breed. At the walk, the gait of feline type of lion steps,...

...is slow and resembles that of a bear.

The trot is distinguished by a strong thrust of the hindquarters, (on this pic, of young Herkul Boki, sand is the flooring substrate, so marks are visible-possible to clearly notice from where ``strong thrust `` cams from), and a good extension of the forequarters.

Most important reason, why good judges at dog shows, insist to see on certain speed, good trot with good extension of the forequarters, as to notice any problem ``in side``. If dog ``run``, at that speed, on gallop, they have the   tendency to use both hindquarters at the same time, as pig-rabbit, saving effort on one separate leg. Judge will ask for slower movement, to besure about where the problem lies. When trotting, if there is no rhythmic movement, then for sure there is some damage, such as hip dysplasia,  or another internal problem. As dogs feel more pain when they use their legs separately, he will try to move with the least pain as possible. Maybe sit, or lay down. One of the first things learnt, at Chinology Academy, when one studies as a judge  ( FCI) , to notice how dogs move, is there any damage, any problems and if notice, judging should be maximum  price  3 ( good), if all other parts  are perfect as the standard requires. This is fact, and we see here, exactly what standard says. So if   the dog does not move perfectly, it can not be `` suggested `` for title or in another word-breeding programe.

``The dog rarely gallops``; rarely, but do.

This movement has been motivated by strong tendency for faster move, but should not be mix, as before mention ``pig gallop``. As proportions and size are base for unique moving, then even here we can recognized such feline move.

``Usual gaits: walk and trot``. This is definately very true, and some time when observing the Neo on such a walk, we get the strong feeling, that he is in some kind of ``deep meditation ``. So easy, so slowly, lumbering but so strongly, deliberate forward motion with head held out stretched on level with the back, and eyes fixed straight ahead, and ``keeping concentration``using for  tracking everything on the ground.

On the exercise field, when the effort is at a ``high``level, if my dogs are going up an incline, and using ``trot`` on his ``tempo``,then I am 100% satisfied, no need for any X-ray controls.  easily , on any of movement.

``Pacing is tolerated``.

When we are talking about feline movement, then a completely sound Neo, should be able to carry all his weight,

some funny move in fully movement...
