As We insist and love to know, before somebody buys one of our puppies , as much as we can about the new owner , We think, it is polite to introduce ourselves in the same way, so the new owner will know exactly `` who's coming``.

The signature of any breeder are the dogs that he  produces. There can be no more proof than this. Never mind what any breeder says or claims, never mind his philosophy, all that is important are the dogs that he produces. The dogs are the marker as to whether the breeder is good or bad. Any one can claims to be producing dogs of soundness and  proper type. However, often, the dogs that emerge from the kennel resemble a ``hippopotamus``! Only those who are ignorant of the breed or not interested can be manipulated in such a fashion. If we love the ``breed`` our duty is to learn, to be aware of how the standard presents an ideal example. When you know the mastino properly and truly (have a look at  the section "Standard through Epir dogs"- may give so me help),  you will see how the puppies are raised here and the environment that they grow up in. They are very rugged and adaptable without the common health problems. We are located in Serbia, where the climate is quite harsh and extreme. During the Summer, temperatures can reach 40C, and thank God,  this causes no problems for our Neos. During the hottest period of the day, they like to go to the forest part of the property.

But they still like to have full freedom of choosing location- where they can best perform their guardian ``duty` `

In winter time, when the snow is heavy, its not unusual to see temperatures of    -20C.

...they can be found inside their dog-houses, (which are all made of natural materials)

During summer, in side the dog houses remain fresh and cool but in winter it is quite warm due to  the great insulation properties of these natural dog houses. Other than proper food, care and water this is all they need - everything else is supported by their good immune systems. Throughout our property, we grow many fruits fairly low to the ground ,  and as puppies they are able to take them by themselves .
From the early days, puppies are given largely a free run , they can go anywhere on the property, at the same time, they are given plenty of toys and stimulus to develop a good character .

There are a few more important points that I would like to mention . Usually my dogs never need to visit the vet , except for  rabies vaccinations or micro-chipping. To avoid unnecessary health problems it is advisable to follow some precautions:
*never give cold water straight after exercising (after one hour will be ok),

*never exercise a dog after a meal (food), and at least one hour after exercises do not let them eat,
*if You bathe them, or let them swim , never let them dry themselves by laying down , but  wet them by  running, moving, so they can worm skin by inside.
Mastino love water, but first steps, have to be nice and patient. Gradually introduce them to the water whilst they are  running/moving, so they can adjust to the water temperature internally. Do not rush or push them.  Slowly, is the Mastino way...

or if you do not wish to go in the water with the Neo, as he is a  very good swimmer and resourcefully

...then try with fetch, let them enjoy retrieving what you throw or let him follow you when ``sailing``in boat- canoe or just running through shallow water.Water is very good for them.

Respect them, love their loyalty, but always let them know who is boss.  Do not let your love be interpreted as weakness. For example, take their food in the middle of them eating, throughout their life. Not all the time, but once every couple of months, when they are older, never mind how  much they protest , be careful not to feed them too much. My dogs are always a little hungry after feeding, it means they eat everything for a few minutes. It is our responsibility to make good balanced meals , dictated by how active the dog is . If any is left, next time offer 10-15% less food. When feeding time comes , I love to hear the sounds and their eagerness for food, jumping up as I bring it to them , to see in them ``life``. During summer time, I feed them once a day , in winter time, twice, less quantity in the morning meal but the evening meal is quite large . I do not give my dogs, dry food, I use natural and as fresh as possible.

From the beginning, I teach them, food is no joke and there is competition at mealtimes, very much a "survival of the fittest" ethos. Many times, I have been asked , why I am not afraid to mix older dogs with puppies-, this is a very unusual question for me, as my older Neos love and worship the little fellows a dog that attacks puppies , will never be in the ``EPIR program``, or with us ..For me, this is an unthinkable thing.
For Example, as the older dogs were nice with Herkul-Boki - when he was a``terminator`` pup he is the same with the  youngest  now. A strong, healthy personality has to react this way. A weak nerved personality isn't tolerated.
Dogs are especially sensitive when touched on their hindlegs/back quarters ,  this is ingrained in them as part of their survival instinct and therefore very important ,   takes confidence from both parties to touch and to tolerate touch in these areas - see picture .

Here we will show, where our Neos spend most of the time, and how they live their lives. Our breeding tendency and philosophy is best shown through the appearance, character and spirit of our dogs. Most sites tend to say about their breeding goals but we will approach this from a different angle .
Basically, we have two places, one in the city, when we have to be in town, where our Neos  live with us, (Some of the more alpha personality dogs are kennelled to avoid disagreements) .

Our second location is very rural and natural, known as ``Deliblatska Pescara``.
We have a fairly large piece of land where we spend the majority of our time .From the 1980`s, with young Boza Brik, we enjoy ``Pesak`` and now we are``occupied``.
Our Neos have their own philosophy here, protecting the property and  the land is quite spacious (around 8000), with perfect configurations, of inclines and declines , for exercises training, patrolling, joy-life.
As ``Pesak`` is a ``special reservation``so we make, around our land , defences from ``natural`` materials, but still with enough safety.
From here, we produce our ``gladiators``, where patiently and deliberately they would prevent an intruders first efforts .
They have full freedom, sleeping any where, even in the forest during the hot summer try to reach anything,
....or waking up, deep protected instincts or hiding themselves , ``for possible food`` with perfectly ``organized`` attack or just joy .
